Enie the Eagle was born high above the rugged cliffs of Liberty Harbor during a thunderstorm on the Fourth of July. From the moment he cracked through his shell, the skies erupted with fireworks, and the elder birds declared him a symbol of courage, freedom, and celebration.
Unlike the other eaglets, Enie was fascinated not just by flying, but by people. He would soar over ships entering New York Harbor, watching travelers wave at the Statue of Liberty with hope in their eyes. One day, while perched atop a harbor light, Enie spotted a strange sight - a patriotic duck in a star-spangled outfit entertaining passengers aboard a cruise ship. That duck would later become his lifelong friend, Dottie the Duck.
The two quickly became inseparable. Dottie loved making passengers laugh, while Enie acted as the proud guardian of the skies above every adventure. Together they traveled aboard famous cruise ships, posing for photos, leading deck parades, and becoming legends among travelers. Kids called Enie "Captain Freedom" because he always appeared during sail-aways, circling ships as patriotic music played.
Enie was especially known for his giant red, white, and blue top hat, gifted to him during America's 250th anniversary celebration cruise. He wore it proudly during every major event and refused to remove it, even during storms.
When tragedy struck and Dottie the Duck was lost in the infamous hot tub accident of 2026, Enie disappeared from the public eye for weeks. Many passengers claimed they still saw him flying silently over the ocean at sunset, searching the waves for his best friend.
Eventually, Enie returned - quieter, wiser, but still proud. He now travels the seas carrying Dottie,s favorite cruise photo tucked beneath his wing. At every port, he reminds travelers to celebrate life, friendship, and adventure while they can.
His motto became legendary among cruise crews:
"Fly proud, sail free, and never miss the chance to wave at the horizon."
The legendary Ernie the Eagle.
